Closet Cravings: 10 things I want in my closet by Summer 25 (Flowers everywhere)

Hi y’all,

It’s been a hot minute since I last did a Closet Cravings post. Honestly, I’m not even sure if this is something that interests you. However, I find these lists super useful—mostly to keep myself from wandering into impulse-buy territory (which, let’s be real, happens more often than I’d like to admit). Making a wishlist feels like I’m somewhat in control. So here’s what my wardrobe daydreams are made of this season:

1. The Crochet Dress

I’ve had a soft spot for crochet ever since the 90s, when someone gifted me a handmade vest. I still have a crochet pencil skirt I adore (and rarely wear, sigh). But this summer, I want to go full crochet dress mode. Not the sheer, beachy type—though I did eye those last year, imagining them over jeans and a tee. No, this time I’m leaning into a slightly more elevated version—something I can wear to brunch without looking like I wandered in from the shoreline.

I might go for something with a little bit of drama like fringes

2. Hawaiian Flower Hair Clip

If you'd told me 20 years ago that the Hawaiian flower clip would stage a comeback, I would’ve laughed. Yet here we are. I used to own several in the early 2000s, clipped them onto my extensions like I was channeling my inner island goddess. These days I cover my hair, so I’m not sure what function they’d serve—but they’re so ridiculously adorable. The 20-year-old me, trapped in a 40-something’s body, wants them bad. Maybe I’ll clip one to my scarf. Or my tote bag. Or both.

3. Floral Accessories (again)

Florals for summer? Groundbreaking, I know. But I’m seeing flower-shaped everything lately. I already bought an oversized floral brooch (still waiting for its grand debut), but what I’m really eyeing now are floral earrings—bold, colorful, unapologetically blooming ones.

4. Jeans, Please

My jeans are hanging on by a thread—literally. I need to restock with two pairs: one boyfriend cut and one skinny, both in deep, classic blue. You know me, I am not into torn jeans with holes. Basic? Yes. Necessary? Absolutely.

Yet this two tone jeans is calling my name.

5. Leather Sandals

Every summer, like clockwork, I invest in a new pair of flat leather sandals that (ideally) carry me through the next few years. I’m torn this year: do I replace my beloved, well-worn Maraz Paddams from three years ago, or try something new from a local Senegalese brand? I’ve been eyeing a few... the decision is pending, but my feet are ready.

Maybe this Summer I will take the plunge.

6. Orchid sandals

Ever since I saw them promoted by a local brand, I have been obsessed with Orchid sandals. I really want to buy the sandals even though I have no business buying new shoes. That is why I would like to DIY them by finding orchid pins or clip ons to add to my shoes.

So that’s what I’m craving lately—some old loves revisited and a few new additions that might just earn a permanent place in my wardrobe. What about you? What are you shopping (or daydreaming) for this summer?
