Hotel review: Le Havre de Paix

Hi Y'all.

Another day, another hotel review.

The inside façade was so beautiful.

The boys and I recently took a quick escape to Somone, back to our go-to getaway just outside Dakar. We booked into a cosy bed and breakfast I found on booking.com called Le Havre de Paix. True to its name, it’s a peaceful little place off the main road leading to the lagoon, right by the Clinique Soleil. As soon as you arrive, you see the pool and bar, with a small kitchen opposite, and a main building across the pool with a few rooms and a lounge/restaurant area. Our room was a mini suite with plenty of space—a bedroom, living area, and loft with two extra beds. There was a small balcony too, just enough to catch a glimpse of the sea.

Le Havre has a rustic charm, functional though a bit dated, but it has the essentials: air conditioning, running hot water, cable TV, and space for all of us to settle in comfortably. The breakfast is simple—coffee or hot chocolate, eggs, bread, and jam—but it does the job, especially on those lazy mornings. What I enjoyed most was the quiet. Aside from a few guests in the hall, it’s remarkably peaceful. The pool is small but cosy, perfect for a few people, and they even have a mini-library, board games, and some kid-friendly extras.

The staff is polite and responsive. When we had a small plumbing issue, they quickly sent someone to fix it. Due to a booking error on my end, we had to switch rooms for our last night, which was a bit of a downgrade, with no balcony and less space, but it worked for one night.

Would I go back? Maybe. I loved the peace, but next time, I might search for a place with a proper sea view. It’s good to switch things up.
